In Math, we are implementing a new math curriculum, called Math Expressions, which is more aligned to the rigor of the Common Core Standards and M-STEP. Major areas of study include multiplication, fractions, and fact fluency.

We have three major areas of study in third grade writing: narrative, persuasive and informational text. - Narrative (Small Moments, Realistic Fiction, Fantasy) - Leads or Hooks to grab the reader's attention - Lots of details (dialogue, specific actions, emotions and feelings) - Focus on a seed story - Use of transition words - Closing - Persuasive (Opinion writing, Reviews, Letters) - State an Opinion. - Support your opinion with evidence. - Use transition words. - Write a concluding statement. - Informational Reports (Big Zoo Animals) - Introduce a topic. - Develop the topic with facts, definitions, and details. - Use transition words. - Write a summarizing statement. |
