Flexible seating is a way of redesigning and rethinking our classroom space in order to meet the learning needs of our divers students. Instead of forcing students to sit at "their" desk all day long to engage in their work, we are offering students a variety of different spaces to work: laying down, sitting, standing, and many more. This change in seating options for work time allows the students to experiment with what works best for them as learners and then develop the metacognitive skills to continually identify what works best.
A change in teaching mantra from "Sit at your seat, stop talking, and do your work" to "You're talking and not focused on your work. Let's find a better spot for you to focus and do your best."
